Peaks: In Progress
Chief Mountain
Chief Mountain, while not the tallest in Glacier, stands prominently among the Rockies' eastern peaks and overlooks the plains, visible from over a hundred miles away. It marks the Blackfoot Confederacy's territory in the US and Canada, guiding travelers. Known as "Ninaistako," it is seen as powerful and wise. The Blackfeet continue their ancient rituals there, viewing Chief Mountain as the oldest spirit connected to their creation stories.
